Discover Bute Landscape Partnership

Project Vision

“To enable residents, visitors and new audiences to DISCOVER BUTE through:

•Adventure, intellectual enquiry and education;

•Direct involvement in the conservation and enhancement of the natural and built heritage;

•Ensuring the distinctive features of the landscape of Bute are managed for future generations;

•Improving access with emphasis on walkers, cyclists and those with limited mobility.”

The Step Up Project

... were set up as a Social Inclusion Partnership Initiative and our funding comes from the Fairer Scotland Fund.  We report through the local ADG (Area Development Group), a partnership of local and statutory organisations.  We are based in the Longhill Learning & Resource Centre

Our Arts, Culture & Environment programmes are a key method of engaging with groups and individuals who might not get involved in our Skills & Learning programme. The programmes are designed to facilitate passing on of skills, sharing their own work and what inspires them.  We try to offer practical and creative opportunities for people to meet, share and learn new skills

Argyll & Bute Council

Are supporters of this project. They have part funded this project with Homecoming Scotland and European Leader Funding. They are funding other projects on Bute and throughout Argyll.

“…I am pleased to see the commitment from Argyll and Bute Council to the Year of Homecoming 2009.  It has approved financial support for a series of events which will form the groundwork for a wider celebration of Scottish culture…. In the current financial situation tourist destinations will need to offer extra to attract visitors…”

Welcome to our Homecoming pages

This is a partnership project that seeks to involve and work with not only the two main partners listed here but our organisations and agencies, that are working together to improve the lives and life experiences of the local people and visitors to Bute.
