Community Development & Capacity Building

The project worked with community groups and individuals through  a range of  Community Development and Capacity Building programmes .  We supported individuals and community groups to strengthen and grow their organisation’s skills and knowledge, encouraging and supporting them.  Working together for a stronger safer more inclusive community for everyone.

Arts, Culture & the Environment

Early on in the project we identified a lack of opportunities for people to express their creativity and identified a need for practical hands on programmes. We ran a range of programmes offering regular opportunities, courses and workshops in both arts & environmental programmes that help to make the community we live in more culturally diverse, encouraging self expression and awareness of Bute and its people.

Learning & Skills development was central to our way of working.  Our  workshops, courses and classes were tailor made to suit the groups we worked with. Working in partnership with other skills & learning agencies, the Councils CBAL programme, Bute Healthy Livings Community Health programmes as well as many other partner organisations. We aimed to support individuals who had been excluded or needed extra support to take part in more mainstream courses on offer, or just the confidence to come forward in a supportive friendly atmosphere

Learning, Employment & Skills Development

The Step Up Project was a Social Inclusion Partnership initiative most of its funding came through Scottish Government funding.  We reported to the local Area Development Group, a partnership of local organisations and statutory agencies.  The project developed and was based in the Longhill Learning & Resource Centre
